After the first weekend of the season, the league saw two fantastic games that both came down to the wire.
Inter Milan vs. Liverpool
Match one saw Inter Milan taking on Liverpool in the 2 P.M. match. Both teams in need of subs, Felix Abadin took over for Will Fitzpatrick and Dustin Ward took over for Sal Maffei. Inter struck quick with an early goal from Cal Abadin and another quick on an impressive goal from defender Craig Taylor. However, Inter would not score again in the first half as Liverpool would score five unanswered to end the half. In the second half, Felix Abadin scored two goals to bring Inter to within a goal of LIverpool. But Liverpool began to pull away as Dustin Ward and Kyle Fasullo added two goals, making it 7-4. Felix Abadin would strike once more, but not before Kyle Fasullo added one more to make it 8-5. With a minute and thirty seconds left, Felix Abadin added another goal to make it 8-6. Then, with 45 seconds left and Inter pushing forward, Cal Abadin scored to bring Inter within one. As Liverpool held on to their lead, the ball slipped away from goalie Jorge Abadin and Andrew Sigle added the tying goal with 7 seconds left.
The game would go to penalty kicks, and with both teams missing their first shot (Inter's being captain Cal Abadin), it came to be a close round. However, Inter would go on to convert their next four tries and Scott Naccari saved Kyle Fasullo's shot as Inter came from behind to win the match 4-2 on penalty kicks.
Chelsea vs. Manchester United
In the second match of the day, only Cheslea needed a sub as they added Philip Smith in place of Jonathan Lee. Tony Fortier-Bensen quickly started the scoring as Man U took an early 1-0 lead. However, Chelsea would strike back quickly, but not with their own player. Chris Winker would score an own goal to tie the match at one. Tony and Matthew would score twice more, and Reed Dufour added another as Man U took a 6-4 lead going into the half. In the second half, Man U added to their lead by scoring three goals and taking a commanding five goal lead. But Chelsea slowly fought back with five goals from Philip Smith to bring the score to within one. With 3 minutes left Manchester United lead by as many as four goals. But, with only 30 seconds left their lead was one. And with 4 seconds left Philip Smith tied the match with a great goal to send the game to penalty kicks.
In the penalty kick shootout, it was all Manchester United. Converting two of their first three shots, they would go on to win as Chris Winker was fantastic in the net with 3 saves. Manchester United took the win, 2-0 on penalty kicks.
