Low scores was today's way to go, as neither game had a team score more than ten goals:

Liverpool vs. Manchester United

In the first match of the day, Liverpool took on Manchester United.  Man U was attempting to come off their big loss to Inter, and Liverpool was looking to build off of their dominating effort against Chelsea two weeks ago.  Tony Fortier-Bensen added to his Golden Boot run with two goals in the first half, but that would be all the scoring in the first.  Both defenses played strong, and the goalies were spectacular in the first half.  However, the second half was a different story for the Red Devils defense.  After leading 2-0 at the break, Liverpool would finally break through, mostly in part to the scoring of Kyle Fasullo.  Sal Maffei, after his 8 goal performance in Week 2, had a silent, yet strong game.  He scored the first goal of the second half, then Kyle Fasullo added another to bring the game to a tie.  Reed Dufour would add his first goal since game 1 as Man U would take a 3-2 lead.  Man U would not score again, and Kyle Fasullo would take it from here.  Liverpool then went on a 5 goal run (including an own goal by Evan Martin) to win the match 7-3.  The attack of the Red Devils looked tired in the second half and simply could not get anything working.  Give much credit to the Reds' defensive duo of Corey Schneider and Jon Riera.  Also, Jorge Abadin played a fantastic game in goal.  Kyle Fasullo was the high man with 5 goals.

Jorge Abadin saves a shot that nearly bounces over his head.

Chelsea vs. Inter Milan

In the second match of the day, the battle was between the unbeaten Nerazzurri of Inter Milan and the winless Chelsea.  The match started off with a bang, with Bailey Arnett netting a goal in the first 30 seconds of the match.  But the Inter offense came roaring back with 5 goals (2 by Will Fitzpatrick, 2 by Cal Abadin, 1 by Craig Taylor) to tie the match at the half (Nathan Cedor had one goal and Adam Fournier had 3 in the half).  In the second half, it was all Adam "Corn dog Fourn dog" Fournier.  He had a career day, netting four goals in the second half alone, and almost beating the Inter team single handedly.  The Inter side which scored 13 goals two weeks ago could muster only 7 today.  The offense of Internazionale looked tired and the defense simply was not in sync.  Chelsea took advantage of this, and with great defense from Donald Ward and great work in the net, they were able to shut down the attack of Inter.  Final: 10-7.

Adam Fournier looks to score from a distance.

Other notes... Fournier was the high scorer on the day with 7 goals... After scoring 8 goals last week Sal Maffei scored 1 this week... Manchester United scored the lowest goal total of any team this season with 3... Chris Winker recorded the first clean sheet in a half this season... Craig Taylor leads all defenders with 2 goals on the season... Thanks to Danielle Raymond for keeping the statistics and Chris Winker and Donald Ward for keeping score!
