Inter Milan vs. Manchester United

In the first match of the day, Inter Milan took on the Red Devils of Man U.  Both teams suffering from missing players, Inter had to make due without Will Fitzpatrick (replaced by Kevin Seay), and Man U had to play without leading scorer Tony Fortier-Bensen and Midfielder Matthew Whelan (replaced by Bear Tucker and Grant Riera).  In a very slow match, Inter opened the scoring with a goal from Cal Abadin, assisted by Kevin Seay.  However, Bear Tucker would strike back for Man U with a goal from distance to beat the Inter keeper.  Kevin Seay then added a goal, but Bear Tucker scored once again.  Cal Abadin broke the 2-2 deadlock to make it 3-2 before the half.  The entire match was full of missed opportunities from Inter, as Chris Winker made a few impressive saves.  In the second half, Inter slowly but surely pulled away, with 3 goals from Cal Abadin and 2 from Kevin Seay as Inter sweeps the season series against Manchester United.  Manchester United continues their scoring funk, scoring only five.  Since the first match (when they scored 13), Man U has not scored 13 in their previous three matches combined. Final: 8-5.

Liverpool vs. Chelsea

In the day's second match, the Reds from Liverpool took on the Blues from Chelsea.  With Inter's win, Liverpool looked to keep pace with the Black and Blues and set up a showdown in the second to last week of the season.  Liverpool was without leading striker Kyle Fasullo (Bear Tucker was his replacement).  Chelsea was also without Jonathan Lee and Nathan Cedor (replaced by Stephen Knecht and Nick Lonergan).  Defender Corey Schneider opened the scoring with his third goal of the year.   However, Nick Lonergan would net one, along with Bailey Arnett, to tie the match at two.  But Sal Maffei would add two goals before the half as Liverpool took a 4-2 advantage.  In the second half, it was all Liverpool.  Corey Schneider would score 3 to get the Texas Hat Trick and Jon Riera would have his own hat trick as the two defenders carried Liverpool to an 11-5 victory.

Other notes: Scott Naccari had his first own goal this week... Tony Fortier-Bensen is not as good of a camera man as he thinks... Jon Riera scored a hat trick as his first career goals... The seven goals scored by LIverpool is the most by a defensive combination this season... Liverpool and Inter face off for first place in three weeks... Thanks to Danielle Raymond for keeping the stats and score!

REMINDER: Due to the fact that October has 5 weekends, we will not play again for another THREE weeks.
